Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead

You see a title and you think "Oh, man, I have to see this." Like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead.

It's a horror comedy that's actually funny. Dustin Hoffman's son Jake plays Julian, who's just gotten the job of director for a new version of Hamlet, called Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead, written by Theo Horace, a vampire played by John Ventimiglia. Julian casts his best friend Vince as Hamlet and his ex-girl friend as Ophelia, then there's vampire style craziness.

It's a smart movie with a great quirky sense of humor that never over powers the sense of impending menace the vampires bring to the table.

The score is pretty good, not as surprise as it's done by Sean Lennon- John and Yoko's son.

In the wrong hands, this could have easily come off as an overly hip indie-movie, but Jordan Galland, the director and writer, shows a familiarity with the source material that you don't see that often; he's someone worth watching.
